Who We Are

Our store on Wyoming St. street provides emergency food assistance to people without qualifications. We use a customer choice model that allows people to make their own food choices within the limits we set in the store based on household size. We shopping once per week including non-perishable items such as canned goods and dry goods, as well as perishable items such as produce, dairy, deli and meat.

ROOTS is a monthly program we facilitate on behalf of CSFP federal commodities. On the second Thursday of each month, over 50 volunteers pack bags and boxes of groceries then deliver them to homebound seniors in Missoula County.

Kids Table is a summer program that provides healthy lunches and snacks to children in Missoula. Through partnerships with programs that provide summertime opportunities to low-income children, Missoula Food Bank is able to offer needed nutrition to kids who may otherwise go without.

Our Food Circle program accepts prepared, perishable food from commercial food establishments. Using sanitized containers, excess prepared food is collected at donor establishments by a driver trained in safe food handling. Donated food is briefly stored in our walk-in cooler until it is repacked into single serving meals. Meals are labeled and dated and immediately frozen for distribution.

What We Do

We lead the movement to end hunger through advocacy, volunteerism and healthy food for all.  We nourish community.

Missoula Food Bank & Community Center envisions a community that embraces food justice, where:

everyone is food secure;

those most impacted are a leading voice in the solutions to poverty and hunger;

no one feels shame or experiences stigma when asking for help;

every child is nourished and has an equal opportunity to learn, grow and succeed;

every senior has access to the food they need to age with dignity regardless of mobility, transportation or health barriers;

social safety net programs are recognized as part of the solution;

everyone can afford their basic needs

Our Values:

We respect and treat every person with dignity, empathy and equity.

We believe that access to nutritious food is a basic right of every person.

We respect the concept of customer choice in the selection of available food.

We provide compassionate service that is proactive, innovative, and collaborative.

We are excellent stewards of our resources.

We act with openness, integrity and accountability.

We advocate for solutions to hunger.
