Who We Are
5-2-1-0 Let's Move! Missoula (LM!M) is a community initiative mobilizing projects and partnerships that build healthy kids and residents of all ages - no matter where they live, work, play or learn. Projects focus on creating environments with access to physical activity and nutrition, and support for social cohesion.
5-2-1-0 is a daily recipe for health. Every day we can make the healthy choice the easy choice:
- Enjoy - eat 5 fruits and vegetables.
- Reduce - limit fun screen time to 2 hours.
- Play - engage in physical activity for 1 hour.
- Limit - aim for 0 sugar sweetened beverages. Drink water or milk.
What We Do
We work with a variety of partners in Missoula County to improve the lives of children through better access to healthy environments.
United Way of Missoula County is the recognized co-sponsor and private sector champion of Midday Move, a program of 5210 Let's Move! Missoula -- part of Missoula Public Health. Other program partners include Missoula Parks and Recreation, Missoula Family YMCA and Missoula County Public Schools.
We need volunteers for Midday Move, an active recess program at Russell, Lowell and Hawthorne schools. It happens from 11-1 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (hours vary slightly, depending on which school you choose). You can come for 1 hour, if that works better with your schedule, instead of the whole 2-hour shift. Sign up for one shift to see if you like it, or sign up to be a regular. Whatever works for you! For more info or to volunteer, contact Peggy Schmidt at mschmidt@missoulacounty.us and she will walk you through the easy sign-up process.
Thank you!
