1. Donation Recruiter Crew (Community Outreach)

Summary: Donation Recruiters support the Silent Auction by conducting friendly, low-pressure outreach to local businesses. This role focuses on sharing information, building relationships, and tracking interest—not cold calling or sales.
Key Tasks: Drop off Silent Auction fliers at assigned local businesses
Share basic information about JRPC and the Peace Party when appropriate Answer simple questions and direct follow-up to staff as needed

2. Bundle Builder Crew (Organization & Curation)
Summary: Bundle Builders assemble donated items into cohesive, appealing Silent Auction packages that reflect community values and create a strong bidding experience.
Key Tasks:
Group donated items into themed bundles (e.g., Date Night, Wellness, Art)
Identify gaps, overlaps, or opportunities to strengthen bundles
Help name and describe bundles clearly
Keep bundle details updated in a shared spreadsheet
Skills & Qualities: Strong organizational skills, collaborative mindset, attention to detail, and enjoyment of creative problem-solving.

Repack bulk food into conveniently sized bags to be distributed to food banks across Montana! Montanans experiencing hunger can go to their local food bank and take home what volunteers have prepared for them. This activity can be done solo or in a group of up to 13 people -- you can choose whether to have a Zen or social experience! Join our Train-the-Trainer program! This is a new, powerful way to expand the reach and impact of health education by equipping individuals to become educators in their own communities. Our participants receive specialized training, tools, and resources at no cost to deliver engaging, evidence-based health education on important topics such as skin cancer prevention, teen driving, and medicine safety to help address the leading causes of injury and disease in Montana. As a participant of Train-the-Trainer, you will receive training and ongoing support, health and safety education experience, and access to turn-key materials to use in your community. For example, our Be Sun Smart program is designed to educate individuals of all ages about the causes of skin cancers like melanoma, while empowering them to take proactive steps to protect themselves from harmful sun exposure. Similarly, our OTC Medicine Safety program helps people understand how to safely store, dose, and dispose of medications, enabling them to safely and confidently manage over-the-counter medications for themselves and others. Help honor and support military members, veterans, and their families by representing the American Red Cross at monthly meetings with local military and veteran support organizations. Volunteer as a Duty Officer and make a vital impact in local disaster response. As a Duty Officer, you'll be the first point of contact for individuals in our region seeking assistance by answering initial calls and dispatching local Red Cross volunteers to support families affected by home fires and other disasters. The food pantry is open 3 days a week from 5:30pm to 7:00pm for individuals not staying at the Poverello Center. As a volunteer, you will need to arrive by 5:15pm and expect to leave around 7:00pm. The food pantry is stocked by our food rescue program, as well as by private donations and the Montana Food Bank network. Volunteers individually or with a fellow volunteer give out food from the pantry to clients. Volunteers must record the type of food a client receives, as well as give out a certain amount of food depending on how many people the client resides with. 

Summer is just around the corner, and we need to fill lots and lots of Kids Table Summer Volunteer Shifts to get started in June. Help us keep bellies full this summer! It takes many hands to assemble thousands of meals and sandwiches for local kiddos here at Missoula Food Bank and Community Center. We fill a huge gap in food safety . For context…

In 2024 during the school year (9 months long) we assembled and served 61,185 after school meals whereas in the summer (just 3 months long) we served 65,792 meals to kids in our community.

This is where we need YOU! These shifts include making sandwiches, packing lunches, prepping snacks and even helping at meal distribution sites handing out meals. (Villagio Apartments and Missoula Public Library).

Most shifts begin around 6/13 or 6/16.

At Mountain Home, we believe that providing basic necessities is one step toward helping families achieve stability. Our Baby Boutique is a one-stop shop offering everything from baby clothes and toys to maternity wear and baby equipment - all donated by generous members of our community. Additionally, all of the items will be accessible online for our clients and other Missoula local organizations. 

Our Boutique receives new items everyday, with your help we can provide more essential items to families with an authentic shopping experience in a clean and organized environment.

Positions range from receiving donations, sorting donations, stocking shelves, stocking the online shop, and general maintenance of the Boutique. We have two shifts on Tuesdays and Fridays between 12-4.

Montana International Choral Festival is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization in need of volunteers to help with day-to-day office responsibilities, data entry, and general prep activities as we ramp-up production activity for our 13th Festival July 17-20, 2025. General computer skills and interest in nonprofit organization/event experience helpful. Position can turn into a paid part-time position for the right volunteer!

Home ReSource is a community sustainability center striving to help Missoula meet zero waste goals and to promote a vibrant and sustainable local economy. We are always looking for help in our reuse store, support for our zero waste events, and are open to new ideas and community projects.

Volunteer Job Description: After School Tutoring volunteers will engage with students at after school tutoring. Every day different volunteers and students will join our session, and so volunteers will work with a variety of students throughout the semester, and some days you may be prepared to be dismissed early or to work with a group of students depending on need. Often students will just need help with their homework, and they or a classmate should be familiar with how to log on to their student account and access assignments. If a student does ot have homework ,we have a range of other activities they can engage in, including chess, English learning games, art projects, and electrical circuit activities.  After School Volunteers are also encouraged to participate in our social and recreational activities throughout the year!

Time Requirements/Frequency/Duration: weekly consistent commitment is preferred, but our sign up sheet helps us to be flexible with volunteer needs and variable schedules. Please sign up for the month when the sign up sheet comes out and feel free to take your name off the sign up sheet within 24 hours without needing to alert staff. If you need to cancel the day of, a staff person will reach out that morning to confirm your shift and you can let them know if you will not be available.

As an Employment Support Volunteer, you will support the Career Development Coordinator and Employment team with various aspects of employment. Duties include, but are not limited to, assisting IRC staff with growing the employer network, assisting clients with resume building, shopping for work clothes, attending job interviews, completing new hire paperwork, accompanying clients to their first few days of their new job, and helping them learn biking and/or public transportation routes to and from work.

The HOT program works to identify barriers to housing/services for Missoula's chronically homeless individuals, while simultaneously supporting and educating downtown businesses and community members. Volunteers go out with staff members on the streets to do direct outreach and build relationships with people living outside. This involves interacting with clients and community members in a respectful way and providing them with needed resources, information and supplies. 

Homeless Outreach Team goes out with volunteers Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am to 1pm

Volunteers serve hot meals that are already prepared by other volunteers, staff, and guests in our industrial kitchen. Any community member may receive a hot meal; there is no proof of income required.

We currently need lunch servers from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and dinner servers from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m, Monday - Sunday.

Volunteers aid staff, other volunteers, and clients in creating dishes for the Poverello’s hot meals: lunch and dinner. Depending on what is needed for the day the shift can range from washing, dicing, and preparing food to organizing and cleaning the refrigerator and baked goods.

We currently need volunteers for food prep in the morning from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 am. and in the afternoon from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m, Monday - Sunday.

Position Summary:  Missoula Interfaith Collaborative’s “Open Office Hours” is a short-term supportive services program for individuals and families who stop by MIC offices to learn more about our housing and employment support programs. Volunteers will meet with walk-ins to address any immediate needs and connect to the Housing Advocate Network and/or Missoula Works as appropriate.

POSITION: Family Housing Center Walk-In Volunteer

Position Summary: The Family Housing Center Walk-ins is a short-term supportive services program for individuals and families who stop by the Family Housing Center. Volunteers will meet with walk-ins to address any immediate needs and refer to appropriate resources. Position also includes an assessment for eligibility for the Family Housing Center and provision of tangible items (e.g. toiletry kits) and, when available, short-term emergency hotel vouchers for qualifying families.

Volunteer Expectations and Commitments:

· Provide safe and welcoming space for walk-ins to share about their current situation and needs

· Assess for eligibility for Family Housing Center, diversion or other on-site services

· Provide short-term supportive services, such as referrals to community resources or assistance with understanding and navigating resources

· Schedule diversion intake with MIC staff or Family Housing Center intake with YWCA staff, depending on walk-in’s individual situation

· Fill out walk-in form with each walk-in and submit

· Complete notes in walk-in log after each walk-in

· Participate in ongoing trainings with MIC and YWCA

· Coordinate weekly schedule with MIC walk-ins coordinator

Qualifications and Experience:

· No degree required

· Must be 18 years of age

· Must pass a background check according to MIC and YWCA policy

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Basic personal skills: Practicing respect, offering dignity, creating safety in sharing and an ability to listen and provide empathy

· Ability to respect privacy and maintain confidential information

· Ability to identify potential crisis and follow referral protocol for professional staff to intervene

· Knowledge of basic Housing Problem Solving/Diversion strategies

· Ability to be assertive, practice healthy boundaries and apply conflict management techniques effectively

· Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other staff, volunteers, and representatives from related agencies in the community

· Willingness to learn about resources and other opportunities in the community

 Position Relationships:

· Directly accountable to MIC

· Also accountable to YWCA Housing Program Director

· Work closely with other YWCA and MIC volunteers and staff

· Engage in daily contact with other employees, adult clients, and child clients
