United Way of Missoula County and the University of Montana are excited to host University United Food Friday, a one-of-a-kind community volunteer event, on Friday, October 26 in honor of University President Seth Bodnar’s inauguration and his presidential theme of service. This great team building event is an opportunity to help feed thousands of our hungry neighbors and connect volunteers with the university and our community
On the UM campus during University United Food Friday, over 200 volunteers will package over 8,000 dried, non-perishable meals – that’s 50,000 individual servings - for distribution to hungry children and families in our community. Meals will be distributed to kids through Missoula Food Bank’s EmPower Pack weekend nutrition program, providing healthy meals for students who experience chronic hunger while away from school. Each of the meals serves a family of 6, allowing the entire family to enjoy a meal together, or feeding a child for the entirety of an extended school break.
Added bonus: Meals will be donated to the Missoula Food Bank and count toward “Can the Cats”, the annual food-drive competition between the University of Montana and Montana State!
