Every year, our afterschool program serves three local schools in Missoula and gives high quality ceramic arts programming to kids five days a week for free! This special booth is one of our fundraisers to help keep the afterschool program going, and all money raised here benefits local Missoula kids.
We need booth helper volunteers at the Throw for Afterschool booth, whose job is to help keep things running smoothly! We need some dedicated individuals who can take donations and make change for folks, write down records, handle the simple ticket system for firing, and do helpful tasks like label pots as they dry and help people put on aprons. This is a vital support role that helps keep the wheels turning and makes this fundraiser work!
We’re within earshot of the stage, which makes this a great opportunity to be helpful and support a wonderful local cause while still listening to the fantastic musical talent at Roots Fest. Our booth is close to the stage, the nearest corner in the art show section, right in front of the parking garage.
Are you a potter comfortable on the wheel who wants to help the cause by teaching others how to do a basic throw or tandem throwing with kids? Email Kelly at fire@theclaystudioofmissoula.org to find out about availability for volunteers on the wheels. If you've never tandem thrown, Kelly can train you to do so with children if you schedule a training with them before Roots Fest.
